MRSS is the collective management organisation (CMO) established to collect music and music video copyrights on behalf of its members who are music producers. It works closely with the Recording Industry Association of Singapore (RIAS).
MRSS is the official administrator of copyright licences for all commercial uses of recorded music and music videos.
Copyright protects works like literary, computer programs, plays, music and paintings. It is not ideas but their expression that are protected by copyright law. Generally, the author of a copyrighted work has the right to reproduce, publish, perform, communicate and adapt his work. These different exclusive rights form the bundle of rights that we refer to as copyright. These rights enable a copyright owner to control the commercial exploitation of his work.
MRSS is authorised by the record companies that it represents to administer their rights and to grant the relevant licenses. The full list of record labels here.
